ABOUT ALESSANDRA
Some women have called her a genius, others an artist. While claiming modesty, Alessandra is the first to admit that shaping the perfect brow is nothing short of an art form. Accolades aside, Alessandra’s mission in life is as pure as they come: helping women look and feel better. Her desire to bring out the best in every woman has been her catalyst for pursuing a career in skin care, makeup and eyebrow shaping.
Born in Naples, Italy, Alessandra moved to the United States when she was a child. Growing up in a family of expert tailors, she developed precise eye-hand coordination helping her parents thread needles—although she claims she can’t sew a button!
For the past twenty years, Alessandra has made her mark in the beauty world, training and working with the world’s finest makeup artists, such as Anastasia and Mario Tricoci, and top makeup lines including Elizabeth Arden, Versace, and Philosophy. Most people eventually find their niche and Alessandra’s is color and brow shaping. While it’s not everyone’s passion—Alessandra has a soft spot for taming unruly brows—present her with an unsightly set and she’ll stay content (for about an hour or so).
After working only one day a week shaping brows at UrbanShe Spa in Chicago, now Exhale Spa, Alessandra left her position at Nordstrom to tend to her steady stream of 30 clients a day at UrbanShe. Alessandra has been instrumental to Exhale’s Chicago expansion, transforming 300 women’s brows a month (for the mathematically challenged, that’s 600 brows a month!).
With such a large and diverse clientele, Alessandra heard first-hand what the urban woman on-to-go needed to accommodate her busy lifestyle. Not only do women want their makeup to look flawless, they want it to be hassle free (after all, most women don’t have time to spend an hour in front of the mirror every morning). Coupled with her experience as a makeup artist and brow specialist, Alessandra’s insight into women’s beauty needs were all the right ingredients for her own mineral makeup line.
The result was a collection of makeup that works just as hard as the women who wear it. Much like Alessandra, many of her products multi-task, like the Brow Color/Pomade, a silicone-based gel that smooth unruly brows and sets the stage for the color brow powder that comes in the same stylish package.
Essentially, Alessandra Mineral Makeup helps busy women look beautiful without the time commitment. According to Alessandra, if you have great brows, you don’t need much makeup. “Everyone is going for the natural look, not the overdone 1996 look,” she says. Her makeup helps her clients—and anyone who doesn’t live in Chicago—keep their brows in tip-top shape.
